Ft. Dr Patricia Zurita
From stuck to unstuck - how you can move from fear into action, and how to make your mind’s chatter your new best friend!
Feeling stuck? Sick of fear getting the best of you when you need to take action? Clinical Psychologist Dr Patricia Zurita may just be able to give you a key to your freedom. In this amazing episode of Ellis in Wunderland, we get curious with Dr Z and explore ways to help us get comfortable with the uncomfortable and shift us into action when we are overwhelmed by fear and feeling locked in. With her beautiful analogy of a coin, she encourages us to imagine our problems differently. “If you imagine being stuck on one side of the coin, what is the stuff on the other side? What is the stuckness trying to show you?” From this perspective, the other side of the coin is the stuff we care about and have just forgotten how to access. And lucky for us, Dr Z provides us with some great wisdom and practical exercises to help us recognise what’s on the other side, and shift into action despite all the mind’s chatter. Dr Z has worked as a in the field of Psychology for over sixteen years helping clients get unstuck from problems related to fear-based struggles, and is the author of several books including ‘ACT beyond OCD: An Acceptance and Commitment Therapy workbook for adults’ and ‘Parenting a troubled teen: using acceptance and commitment therapy’. If you experience anxiety, are sick of feeling stuck, need some tips to move into action or are sick of fighting against your own mind, then this is the episode for you. If you’d like to get in touch with Dr Z head over to her website here or find her on Instagram and Twitter.

Ft. Jamie Wheal
**Special White Rabbit Edition**
Our White Rabbit Editions are footage and recordings of conversations not originally intended for the podcast, but worth sharing! In this White Rabbit edition, listen in as Jamie Wheal - Executive Director of the Flow Genome Project (FGP) provides solid sounding points for emotional, spiritual and tactical actions as the world as we now it changes at lightning speed. In the words of Jamie Wheal “It’s lively times and we hope everyone is keeping heads up and hearts open”. As our newsreels and newsfeeds tell the tales of empty grocery stores, social distancing memes, borders closing and hygiene tips. This repurposed recording gifted to us by the FGP team offer us a larger frame of how to remain in a high performing state during VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) times, the message is one that shares an anti-fragile secret to surviving and thriving in challenging conditions. As the world got crazier people began to reach out to the FGP team for recommendations on the practical and tactical of surviving and thriving. They then hosted a Zoom call with their community that went into some depth on what they have learned guiding expeditions in remote corners of Nepal and Tibet, leading off-grid base camps for months at a time in the forest (no electricity or refrigeration), tracking the emergency responsiveness of the Burning Man community, and being privy to a bunch of high level off-line dialogues with their three letter agency, DC, WHO, SOCOM, existential risk friends. If you’re looking to distill the complex information out there right now this recording will raise your awareness (without the panic) and can provide you with the means to Embrace the Suck, Take the Hit as a Gift. Savor and Save the World and Above All, Be Kind. download the slides here |
